Four Generations of Building Excellence
Built on Generations of Craftsmanship
The Weston family is proud to represent four generations of experience in pole barn and steel building construction.
It all began with Ray Weston, who founded Weston Building in Williams, California. After Ray’s unexpected passing, his son Doug Weston took over the business in 1976 and continued growing the company with a strong reputation for quality craftsmanship and reliable work.
Doug’s son, Brian Weston, was raised on the jobsite—learning the ropes of barn repairs and wood-framed post buildings from a young age. As demand shifted toward longer-lasting, low-maintenance solutions, the business naturally evolved into steel. In 1984, the Westons partnered with CBC Steel Buildings to become a certified dealer and erector. Over the decades, this partnership produced hundreds of high-quality steel structures across Northern California, ranging from ag barns and storage facilities to full-scale industrial shops.
After selling Weston Buildings in 2015, Brian moved full-time to Mendocino County in 2020. But the legacy of building wasn’t over. Having constructed projects here since the '80s, the Weston family saw a growing need for reliable contractors on the coast. With the next generation of Weston kids stepping up to learn the trades, Weston Coast Construction was born—carrying forward a family tradition of strong structures and honest work.

Brian Weston has been building since before he was tall enough to see over the tailgate. Officially, he brings over 35 years of professional experience in construction, with hands-on expertise in steel buildings, concrete work, garage door systems, and custom pole barn repair. As the fourth generation in the Weston family legacy, Brian carries forward the craftsmanship and commitment that began decades ago with his grandfather, Ray Weston.
While he's skilled in all areas of construction, Brian’s true passion is building pole barns from the ground up. “I love the carpentry, working with the lumber, and creating something from scratch,” he says. “There’s something deeply satisfying about turning a raw site into a fully functional, beautiful barn that’s built to last.”
Brian approaches every job with calm confidence, creative problem-solving, and a focus on building long-term value—for both the structure and the client. His favorite part of the work? The process—laying out the frame, cutting each board, fitting it all together—it’s where craftsmanship really comes to life.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Brian grew up camping, fishing, and surfing on the Mendocino Coast, and always dreamed of living here full-time. That dream became reality when he moved to the area permanently, launching Weston Coast Construction to continue his family's legacy and mentor the next generation of builders.
When he’s not on a job site, you might find him tending his tea garden, enjoying time with family, or throwing a line in the water.

Office Manager & Customer Care Lead
Jamie Umble wears many hats at Weston Coast Construction—Office Manager, project coordinator, design consultant, and Brian’s right-hand gal. With a background that bridges both the construction world and the professional sectors of law, local government, and consulting, Jamie brings a well-rounded, strategic edge to the family business.
Growing up around lumberyards and concrete jobs, she developed a natural feel for the trades. Now, she channels that early exposure and her knack for creative problem-solving into delivering exceptional customer service and beautiful, functional design solutions—especially when it comes to garage doors and curb appeal upgrades. “I know how much a great garage door can elevate a home’s look and value. Helping customers choose the right one is something I really love.”
Jamie is especially proud of Weston Coast’s recent work on the Greenwood Community Center Kitchen Renovation in Elk, her own hometown. The project includes new ADA-compliant concrete ramps and sidewalks—“It makes me proud to help create a space that’s more accessible for everyone in our community.”
She approaches her work with curiosity and care, always digging in to research better ways to serve clients and streamline systems. “I’m a project manager at heart,” she says. “And I bring that lens to every task we take on.”
Jamie and Brian moved to Mendocino County during the COVID-19 pandemic when they were invited to manage a ranch. What started as a leap of faith turned into a deep-rooted calling. “It was a blessing for our family, and now we get to build something meaningful here.”
When she’s not helping run the business, you’ll find Jamie gardening, drawing, or walking in the redwoods with a notebook and cup of tea in hand. She says her favorite part of working in a family business is "building something together we can be proud of and leaving a legacy for our kids."
And if there’s one value she brings to the job every day?
Leadership. Because the trades need more of it—especially from women.

Luke thrives on working with family, which makes each project a shared success. One of his proudest moments was a recent garage door install for a customer named Mary—an efficient, win-win project that left everyone smiling. Known for his quick wit and inventive approach, Luke isn’t afraid to try new things when the unexpected happens. Luke not only works out in the field, but helps behind the scenes with marketing and graphic arts, where his creativity really shines.
Beyond the job site, Luke’s multifaceted personality stands out—he’s an ordained minister with a love for Dungeons & Dragons, enjoys board games and fishing during his downtime, and always carries his trusty pocket knife (a nod to every good boy scout).
